As we head into the fall of 2024, it's time to think about staying healthy during the colder months. At Cara Direct Care, we are dedicated to keeping you and your family protected from common seasonal illnesses. This fall, you can get your Influenza, RSV, and COVID-19 booster vaccines right in our office.

Here’s what you need to know about each vaccine and who should get them, based on recommendations from the CDC and WHO.

Which Vaccines Do I Need?

Recommended Vaccines by Age Group: https://www.vaccines.gov/en/

1. Influenza (Flu) Vaccine

The flu vaccine is essential every year because the flu virus changes constantly. The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine annually. This vaccine is especially important for:

- Children under 5 years old

- Adults over 65

- Pregnant women

- People with chronic health conditions (like asthma, diabetes, or heart disease)

2. RSV Vaccine

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common virus that can cause serious respiratory illness, especially in young children and older adults. For the first time, an RSV vaccine is available this fall. The CDC recommends the RSV vaccine for:

- Adults 60 years and older

- Infants and young children (especially those born prematurely or with certain health conditions)

3. COVID-19 Booster Vaccine

Staying up to date with your COVID-19 vaccinations is crucial. The COVID-19 booster is designed to enhance protection against the virus, especially with new variants emerging. The CDC and WHO recommend the COVID-19 booster for:

- Everyone aged 6m and older who has completed their primary vaccination series

- Individuals with weakened immune systems

- Older adults and those with underlying health conditions

Why Vaccinate?

Vaccines are a safe and effective way to protect yourself and others from serious illnesses. They help reduce the spread of diseases and protect vulnerable populations, like young children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems.
